How long do the cookies last?

Because they are individually heat-sealed, all of our cookies will stay fresh for up to two weeks at room temperature.  We recommend storing them inside a resealable bag or container for best results. However, nobody is perfect so once in awhile the packaging fails so if you have just received a cookie that's too dry and crumbly, reach out so we can make it right.

Can the cookies be frozen?

Yes! These cookies freeze really well, which makes them last months longer! If you buy or receive a big ole box of cookies but don't want to eat them all right away, place any cookies you want to freeze in a zip top bag or airtight container. When you're ready to eat them let them come to room for a couple of hours. To avoid condensation on the outside of the packaging, bring them to room temp in a bag or airtight container.  When it's time to eat them, toss them in a microwave for ten seconds first to take them to the next level!

Are your cookies allergen free?

All of our cookies are made with ingredients that are, to the best of our knowledge, made without soy or nut products or dairy and eggs.  We intentionally choose ingredients and develop recipes that do not contain soy or nuts and are indicated as vegan.

Because all of our cookies are baked in a residential home kitchen, they may inadvertently contain allergens that are not included on the labels. While effort is made to avoid cross-contact via thorough cleaning and total separation of commercial baking ingredients, it may still be possible due to the dual use of the kitchen.

We intend to be as accurate as possible with ingredient labels. There may be slight alterations from batch to batch based on immediate ingredient availability. Any long term or significant  adjustments will be reflected on this page. We are conscientious about food allergies and dietary preferences and work to maintain the integrity of our labels and be as clear as possible about what is in our cookies. Feel free to let us know of any allergies with your order. Individuals with a severe food allergy may want to consider a bakery that specializes in certified allergen free baking over a home bakery.  If you have an allergy concern that is not answered here, reach out to us!

You have a tahini cookie. What if I have a sesame allergy?

Because sesame is an allergen for some people, we do not use baking equipment (cookie sheets, cooling racks, etc.) following a batch of sesame tahini cookies without a thorough sanitation process to reduce cross-contact as much as possible. However, all of our cookies are baked in a residential home kitchen. While effort is made to avoid cross-contact via thorough cleaning and total separation of residential and commercial baking ingredients, it may still be possible due to the dual use of the kitchen. We are conscientious about food allergies and dietary preferences and work to be as clear as possible about what is in our cookies. Feel free to note any allergies on your order. Send a message with any questions!

Can you make Gluten Free cookies?

We can bake most of our flavors with Gluten Free flour (we prefer Bob's Red Mill 1:1). Before baking a batch with GF flour, we go through a thorough sanitation process to reduce cross-contact as much as possible. While effort is made to avoid this cross-contact it may still be possible due to the use of gluten flour in the kitchen. We are conscientious about food allergies and dietary preferences and work to be as clear as possible about what is in our cookies.
If you are interested in ordering cookies made with Gluten Free flour, submit a custom order request and we can provide you a quote and details. Occasionally we'll post GF cookies in our online store when we have extras!

Can cookies be ordered for a date in the future?

Yes! You can order your boxes for a future delivery. Just indicate the date you would like them delivered on the order form in the Delivery Notes. Now you don't have to remember to do it later!

Can I send cookies as a gift?

Absolutely! Cookies make the best gift, even for non-vegans. We have a variety of beautiful gift note options. These are great for birthdays, as a thank you, thinking of you, congratulations, or "just because" gift!

Do you bake for events?

We have provided cookies for weddings, birthdays, corporate meetings, holiday parties, school functions, and more. Fill out the Special Order Cookies form in our online store (go to "Order Here"), give us the details, and we'll send you a quote! It is recommended you give us at least two weeks notice so we can prepare adequately. However, we suggest reaching out for a quote as soon as you know you want cookies so we can at least start the conversation. There is no obligation to accept a quote that is made, but the order is not confirmed until it is paid.

Can you customize your packaging and cookie options?

Yes. Our large cookies automatically come in heat sealed compostable bags. However, we can use alternate packaging such as paper sleeves, a basic Kraft box without individual packaging, or regular cellophane bags if you want to add a custom sticker or labels, most of which are non-compostable. We can also offer a couple different, smaller cookie sizes for a special order and will provide a quote accordingly. Fill out our special event cookie request in the online store and we'll start talking about what you want!

Do you bake out of a vegan kitchen?

Our residential kitchen is not vegan, but it is vegetarian. Lisa, the owner and baker, follows a plant based diet.

Is your packaging really 100% sustainable?

Yes! We've gone to great lengths to source sustainable packaging for all of our regular cookie box orders.

The following components are recyclable:
  • Cardboard mailer boxes
  • Paper shipping tape
  • Business cards, gift notes, paper inserts
  • Shipping labels
The following are home compostable:
  • Cookie heat seal bags
  • Cookie labels
  • Shipping labels
The tissue paper can be recycled and/or composted. Check with your municipality to determine which method they prefer.

**Alternative packing may be used for Special Orders at the request of the customer which may or may not meet the specifications listed above.

Do you have a store front?

Nope! Sugar and Fire is a licensed home bakery. That means everything is baked from a home kitchen that inspected and licensed by the PA Department of Agriculture as a "limited food establishment". Additionally,  zoning does not allow for "pick ups" at the residence--that's why we offer free hyperlocal delivery and a small fee outside of 3 miles from Narberth (19072). If you're a Narb or Nearb and have a craving for cookies, you can always drop us a message and see if we have cookies immediately available! On occasion (when conditions are right), we can get cookies to your doorstep within a couple hours. Cookies are also available at The Greeks Next Door in downtown Narberth.
